Learn about Palliative Care

Join us at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24 in Los Gatos Conference Room 2 as Kathleen Fahey provides an overview of Palliative Care. At left you see the El Camino Hospital Palliative Care Team in Mountain View includes Jennipher Manganaro, MSW; Kathleen Fahey, RN, CNS, Program Coordinator; Neal Slatkin, MD, Medical Director; and Mara Severi, RN.

Palliative care is for patients and families confronting serious illness such as lung, heart and kidney disease, cancer and dementia. The goal of palliative care is to prevent and relieve suffering, and to promote the best possible quality of life as determined by patients and their families. Kathleen F. Fahey, RN, CNS, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Salem State College in Salem, MA, and her Master’s Degree as an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist from UCSF. After working extensively in both oncology and pain management, Kathleen came to El Camino Hospital in 2006 to build the Palliative Care program. Please let Chaplain Tom Jackson know by Sept. 19 if you will join us Sept. 24.
