“Jerry is a key part of our team of interfaith visitors in the Rehabilitation Center,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “He has a rare ability to listen to patients and really hear what they are saying.

‘On almost every day Jerry finds someone to have a good conversation with, and that’s a real gift to his patients and our staff.”

As the Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month Jerry will receive a Starbucks gift card along with a letter expressing our thanks and appreciation.

“James is one of our long serving Roman Catholic Eucharistic Ministers here,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said.

“He spends time on Sundays bringing communion to our Roman Catholic patients. Many of them appreciate his dedication to bringing the sacrament to them on Sunday.”

Susan Levin is our Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month for December.

“Susan is one of our most compassionate Spiritual Care Volunteers,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “She is always willing to help by mentoring a new volunteer or offering an insightful question during one of our Spiritual Care Seminars.”

Susan is one of our Interfaith Spiritual Care Volunteers and visits patients in Los Gatos Hospital once a week.

As the Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month Susan will receive a Starbucks gift card along with a letter expressing our thanks and appreciation.

Edward Degregorio is our Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month for November.

“Ed is one of our most enthusiastic and conscientious Spiritual Care Volunteers,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “He brings a ready smile and warm heart to his work as an Eucharistic Minister.”

“As you can see from the photo above, Ed is willing to jump in and help. Here he working on a puzzle while wearing dark glasses, a rubber glove and a rubber band around three of his fingers – all with the goal of better understanding how some of our patients may feel after surviving a stroke,” the Chaplain added. Ed came to us as an Eucharistic Minister recruited by St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church.  On most days of the week, Eucharistic Ministers bring Holy Communion to Roman Catholic patients in the hospital and rehab center.  As the Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month Ed will receive a Starbucks gift card along with a letter expressing our thanks and appreciation.

“Laura is one of our longest serving Interfaith Spiritual Care Volunteers,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “She is always willing to mentor newly trained volunteers and so they know how to fulfill their role.”

Thanks to Laura’s help we’ve improved our ability to provide Bibles to patients during evenings and weekends. She has also helped As the Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month Laura will receive a Starbucks gift card along with a letter expressing our thanks and appreciation.

David Hammons is Los Gatos Spiritual Care’s September Volunteer of the Month

A retired emergency room physician, David serves as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing Holy Communion to our Roman Catholic patients in the Hospital. He is shown at left with his wife.

“David has been a great help to us as we rebuilt our team of Eucharstic Ministers from St. Lucy’s Parish,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “He is always willing  to mentor newly trained Eucharist Ministers so they know how to fulfill their role.”

Thanks to David’s  help and the strong support of St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church patients in both the Hospital and our Rehabilitation Center are scheduled to be visited by a Eucharistic Minister seven days a week. As the Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month David will receive a Starbucks gift card along with a letter expressing our thanks and appreciation.

Patricia Wood is August’s Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month

Pat WoodPatricia Wood is our second Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month. A recently licensed minister and
member of the Loma Prieta community, she has been a member of the United Church of Christ’s Skyland Community Church for 16 years.  Patricia serves as one of our Interfaith Volunteers caring for patients two afternoons a week at our Rehabilitation Center. 

“Patricia is one of our hardest working volunteers,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “She always takes time to listen to and really hear what people are saying. Patricia is always willing to help one mentor our new volunteers or help a colleague assess a difficult situation. ” 

Patricia recently received support from the National Volunteer Caregiving Network for the purpose of organizing a community-wide volunteer care giving network to serve persons in our mountain community who are either permanently or temporarily homebound. This program seeks volunteers of all ages from the community to be screened, trained, organized into teams, and matched with those who need the services. As the Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month Patricia  will receive a Starbucks gift card along with a letter expressing our thanks and appreciation.

Frank Hamill is our First Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month

Frank Hamill 3Frank Hamill is our first Los Gatos Spiritual Care Volunteer of the Month. A parishioner of St. Lucy’s Church, Frank serves as one of our Eucharistic Ministers. 

“Frank is one of our most dedicated and personable volunteers,” Los Gatos Chaplain Tom Jackson said. “He always takes time to listen to what our patients have to say. Equally important, he lets our patients know he has heard them. He is often here for between one and two hours listening and binging Holy Communion to our Roman Catholic patients. ”
